Right-wingers generally desire to aggrandize everything they consider good into a single bloc of Truth.  AmericaisJesusisManlinessisCapitalism.  In the same fashion they also tend to shoehorn everything they dislike into a single ball of evil.  IslamoFascistCommuHomoSatanetc.  It's well known that George Will dislikes progressivism.  I myself have read enough of him to know that he really doesn't care for American football either.  And so he has written a very strange column in which he attempts to blame the latter on the former.   Heaven knows there are any number of things wrong with college football, to the point that it may well be intrinsically bad for society, as much as it breaks my heart to contemplate that.  But if you're wondering how Will is able to lay such varying ills
of football culture as homophobia, authoritarianism, or patriarchal hero cults around head coaches at the feet of liberals the answer to that is that he doesn't.  His arguments here as wincingly hackish as his much-derided article in which he proclaimed that blue jeans are by mandate of heaven always and forever filthy peasent garb.  His 'pigskin progressivism' column is similarly filled with unreformed
aristocratic contempt for the mass.  Football is bad because, among other things, it is popular among the common people.  Opening the doors of education to the masses was bad because it helped encourage the specialization of knowledge; which was in turn bad because, I suppose, it complicated the perception of Truth beyond 'Some are greater and most are lesser'.  Here's another link to the article just because.  You may decide for yourself if I'm being unfairly simplistic here.

This seems to be a real thing.         It seems that Republican moderates are in severe peril even in Rockefellers own New York State.  More to the point, someone out there thinks that gay marriage is such a dire threat to true hetero manliness that they were left no choice but to manfully send out fliers of gay porn to random citizens of Erie County.  The guy about to get blown appears looks weirdly funereal given the occasion.
